Initiating Children ,Youth and Families Ministry

As part of my role as children, youth and families missioner, I offer churches and Local Ministry Areas support in strategies, planning and implementation of CYF work. The time table for the day is flexible depending on where you are, and what you would like to achieve, but to give you an idea of what we might do on such a day, I have included an example itinerary.

If you would like to know more or to book a day for your church or local ministry area, please email me sophiewhitmarsh@cinw.org.uk or phone 07870 415378

Below are some resources I find helpful and of good quality. Some are completely free, and others have a subscription attached. Remember, that you may be able to get help with any costs associated with children, youth and families work from the grant above, which may also include subscriptions to resources.

If you have any resources that are not here, perhaps you would consider sharing them here, for others to use. Blessings, Revd Sophie.

Christian Aid is a prominent charity dedicated to tackling poverty and social injustice around the world. With a focus on sustainability, they offer a range of resources including emergency relief, and advocacy programs. By partnering with local communities, Christian Aid empowers individuals to create lasting change and improve livelihoods, ensuring that support reaches those who need it most. Their commitment to justice and equality drives their efforts to make a positive impact.

They also provide resources for churches and schools, below is a powerpoint about the resources they provide that links in to the new welsh curriculum.

Scripture Union exists to see a new generation with a vibrant, personal faith in Jesus

95% of under-18s don't go to church, but they desperately need to discover the life-changing good news of the gospel.

We equip local churches to step out and Reveal Jesus to 'the 95', helping them make and build on meaningful connections so that many more children and young people have impactful opportunities to explore the Bible, respond to Jesus and grow in faith.

Through resources, events, training and one-to-one coaching, we are mobilising an ever-growing network of churches that share our vision, working together to change the lives of the youngest generations. Click the link to find out more

Tearfund is a Christian charity with over 50 years of experience in international development. We believe that poverty is not God’s plan, and an end to extreme poverty is possible.

We work directly, and/or alongside local partners and churches, in communities in more than 50 countries to tackle complex poverty in three main ways:

  • Humanitarian response
We respond quickly to disasters and conflicts, supporting those in greatest need throughout the recovery process.

  • Community development
We partner with local churches and organisations, mobilising resources and empowering communities to lift themselves out of poverty.

  • Advocacy and influencing
We help individuals and churches speak out on issues of poverty and injustice, and we challenge unjust policies and practices at a local, national and global level.
